Members of Halifax’s corporate community play "Rock Star" to raise money for a great cause.
Halifax’s top business executives are trading in their suit and ties to moonlight as rock stars for a night at the 6th annual Rock for Dimes fundraiser.
On Friday, November 18th eight bands comprised of Halifax business professionals will light up the stage at the World Trade and Convention Centre to raise funds for March of Dimes Canada.
ISL Web Marketing and Development will be amongst the 7 companies competing for this year’s bragging rights as Halifax’s best corporate band, at the same time showcasing their musical talents and raising funds for a great cause.
The ISL band, The Fonts and Pixels, is ecstatic that they’ll have a chance to put their love of music to good use. “We are really happy to be a part of this fundraiser,” states Malcolm Fraser CEO of ISL and bass player for The Fonts and Pixels. “The fundraiser gives us a chance to rock out with friends, colleagues and other business community members while raising funds for such a worthy cause.”
The eight bands will be divided into two groups this year. One stage playing British rock songs and the other playing Canadian. The Fonts and Pixels will kick the show off with five British cover songs that will sure to get the crowd pumped up.
“We are very excited about the annual Rock for Dimes event in Halifax and this year we are looking forward to the challenge between the Canadian bands and the British bands,” says Mary Lynne Stewart, Director of Fund Development and Communications. “It will be a tight competition and it is all for programs that will help kids with disabilities in the Halifax area.“
Doors will open at 7:00pm on Friday, November 18th at the World trade and Convention Centre located at 1800 Argyle St. The event is open to the public.
