www.aims.caThe Atlantic Institute for Market Studies (AIMS) is a non-partisan, independent public policy think tank based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. In its 15 year history it has won five international awards for research excellence, and is consistently ranked as one of the most influential think tanks in Canada by the Foreign Policy Research Institute in its Global Go-to Think Tanks survey.

The website is AIMS most important communications tool, visited by thousands of people every day searching for books, papers, and research reports on important economic and social policy issues. Their previous website was over 5 years old and AIMS felt it was time to modernize its web presence.

The organization needed a new website that :

  • Provided a clearer understanding of their quality of work
  • Incorporated current and anticipated trends in web consumption
  • Allowed for easy updates

The information architecture (IA) needed to be a priority due to the sheer volume of documents and information AIMS offers. The improved IA does an excellent job of highlighting the most recent hot topics, current issues, and the latest news and reports for its wide range of visitors.

The IA also influenced the structure of a custom document publishing system (DPS) making it easier for people to filter on exactly what they are looking for. The DPS also makes it easy for AIMS to maintain and archive their research. Its new DPS provides an all encompassing place for users to find and download documents.

The website is built on OneWeb CMS 6, ISL's easy to use web content management software. OneWeb gives the organization and its staff the opportunity to quickly respond to changes in their organization and the industries it serves ensuring their visitors always receive fresh, up-to-date and engaging content.
